I’ve previously posted about the great new design of the Saab 9-5 and how I can’t wait to see it at a Saab Chicago dealer and take a test drive. Now there is news that the 9-5 could get a hybrid version in its next model year. The hybrid planned would have a small electric motor with a 120-hp, 1.4-liter gas engine. As with newer hybrids, the electric motor would factor into initial acceleration and during hard acceleration at higher speeds. That would mean the electric motor would be used for mainly short periods of time, making the battery pack required smaller and less expensive.

I know that I loved my Chicago Saab 9-5 test drive when I took one last year, and the new styling has me anxiously waiting for my next one later this year. I think a hybrid would be a great addition to the Saab lineup. Maybe next year I can take a Chicago Saab 9-5 Hybrid test drive.
