I recently found a classy woman for myself. That took about 40 years. Now I am hoping to find the accompanying classy car, but I have about 14 months to do so, as my lease is set to run out then. I’ll admit it. I’m picky. Though it has yet to be released I am very excited about everything that I am reading and seeing about the 2011 Saab 9-5.
Lets discuss the much-heralded new features the 2011 9-5 will offer. The primary change Saab enthusiasts will notice is the exterior design of the new 9-5. For eight consecutive years Saab has used the same sedan “3 box” look. While the current design is timeless in my opinion, I would be lying if I didn’t admit the new design intrigues me. After all, I always felt as though if any automobile’s design should have a jet look and feel it naturally would be the Saab. Saab’s big buzzword on the 2011 9-5 seems to be “modern”. They have rounded the front end which should make the car look sleeker and sportier. The photos look great. Lets hope the change has the desired affect in person; in the meantime I will wait patiently, drink a ton of coke zero and reserve judgment. I’ll find out when I finally take my Saab 9-5 Chicago test drive of the 2011 model.
After taking a Chicago Saab 9-5 test drive a few years ago, I decided I have previously owned a Saab and always got a thrill out of the instant wipers. I used to get excited when it would rain so that I could watch those blades whip around seemingly quicker than the rain would fall. I hope this tradition continues with the new (no one is paying me to use the word modern) windshield design – a natural byproduct of the front-end design change.
As a result of the that change, the inside will be affected as well. The interior features a flowing console and dash, which has been described as a dual-cockpit appearance. We get it, you use to produce jets. The start and stop button will still be found next to the shifter. Naturally, being a 2011 model the ignition will be keyless (for the first time).
Time will tell, but the 2011 9-5 certainly has some early buzz. I am excited myself and look forward to the release and heading to a Chicago Saab dealer for a test drive. So keep an eye out for a follow up piece.
